This standard zoom lens has been developed as a compact, easy-to-use everyday lens that meets user demand for a downsized, high-resolution digital SLR imaging system. Thanks to its retractable mechanism — employed for the first time in the PENTAX K-mount lens system — it provides the world’s shortest length in the stored position: just 41 millimeters. *  Despite its ultra-compact design that assures outstanding portability, it also features the PENTAX-original HD Coating, super-low dispersion glass elements and aspherical elements to effectively compensate various aberrations for sharp, high-contrast, well-balanced images. Новинка имеет самую маленькую в мире длину среди объективов с переменным фокусным расстоянием для малоформатных зеркальных фотокамер — 41 мм, что позволяет ей стать незаменимым компактным штатным зумом, к тому же классические фокусные расстояния 18-50 мм позволяют охватить почти весь диапазон обычных фотографических сюжетов. В пересчете на 35-мм пленочный формат этот зум-объектив покрывает фокусные расстояния от 27,5 мм до 76,5 мм.

Наличие элементов с супер-низкой дисперсией и асферических элементов в оптической схеме, состоящей из 11 элементов в восьми группах, позволяет эффективно компенсировать различного рода оптические искажения для получения контрастных фотоснимков с отличной детализацией по всему полю кадра.

На поверхности линз объектива нанесено многослойное просветляющее покрытие, а также специальное покрытие HD Coating — уже ставшее привычным для объективов Pentax премиум-класса. Оно гарантирует более высокий и равномерный во всем диапазоне видимых лучей коэффициент светопропускания, что позволяет получить контрастное изображение с правильной цветопередачей без паразитных переотражений даже в условиях слабой освещенности или контрового света.

Система фокусировки
Объектив оснащен разработкой Pentax — системой Quick-Shift, которая позволяет пользователю после окончания работы автофокусировки мгновенно перейти в режим ручного наведения на резкость простым поворотом фокусировочного кольца, без необходимости переключения режимов на корпусе камеры.
