Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve Studio is the premier solution for color correction and video/audio editing on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux platforms. DaVinci Resolve Studio software supports more real-time color correction features than any other system because it is not limited by the power of the computer it runs on.Version 17 is available for sale on February 25, 2021.
It overcomes this performance barrier by accelerating computation through GPUs for real-time computation, even for highly complex projects. DaVinci Resolve Studio offers fantastic performance at low cost, and performance is scalable by adding additional GPUs to work with 4K resolution, stereoscopic video, or real-time work with RAW files from Blackmagic Cinema Camera, ARRI, RED, and Sony F65, F55, or F5 cameras. DaVinci Resolve is compatible with Mac OS, Windows and Linux
DaVinci Resolve 17 is a major update bringing over 100 new features and over 200 enhancements. The Color section for color correction includes new features for processing HDR videos, redesigned tools for primary color correction, automatic masks based on artificial intelligence algorithms and many more new features! The Fairlight section offers optimized features for creating selections using keyboard and mouse, as well as the new Fairlight Audio Core architecture including new FlexBus technology supporting over 2,000 tracks. The video editing sections have been enhanced with new metadata displays, zooming on audio tracks for more accurate editing, automatic shot recomposition features, and other new features. You can also now use the Fusion section compositions as subtitles or blending effects in both the Cut and Edit sections, for example.
Color section
DaVinci Resolve 17 includes fantastic new features for colorists, including improved mask creation, better metering tools, support for 17-point LUT tables, and much more! New color editing features for HDR videos allow you to more accurately adjust the ranges of primary color correction tools, including features to adjust exposure and saturation for each zone individually. Also completely new are the deformation grid-based corrections allowing two parameters - color and saturation - to be adjusted simultaneously. The adjustment is done by dragging the grid control points.
Version 17 also brings considerable simplification in the area of selective corrections of human silhouettes. The Magic Mask tool uses the DaVinci Neural Engine core to automatically create masks of entire characters or body parts. Of course, it is possible to manually adjust the mask afterwards, as well as automatically track the movement of the target subject.
The color management system has also seen significant improvements. DaVinci Wide Gamut and DaVinci Intermediate are versatile working color spaces that go beyond BT.2020, ARRI Wide Gamut and ACES AP1 to guarantee completely lossless editing of any material.
Fairlight section
DaVinci Resolve 17 introduces the largest update in the history of the Fairlight section for audio post-production. The audio track editing features have been upgraded along the lines of the Fairlight Audio Editor, as well as the Fairlight Audio Core itself, making better use of the capabilities of the CPU and the optional Fairlight Audio Accelerator card. The result is the ability to process up to 2,000 audio tracks in real time including equalizer, dynamics and up to 6 plug-ins per track! And the new FlexBus architecture introduces up to 26 channels of wide, versatile buses that can be independently layered and linked to process even very demanding projects, in a straightforward manner.
The new Transient Analysis tool is able to detect single words of dialogue tracks, percussion instruments or sound effects. The result is vertical markers in the audio track view that can be easily navigated with the cursor keys, making subsequent editing much easier.
Fairlight Audio Core and FlexBus technologies allow large projects with thousands of tracks to be processed on a single workstation. In the past, processing similarly complex jobs was only possible with several linked computers. DaVinci Resolve also offers features for multiple users to collaborate on the same project, including a Fairlight section.
Cut section
The new Cut section for fast cutting of video material guarantees even more efficient work with imported material. A new metadata display in the bin simplifies file sorting based on scenes, shots, cameras, etc. In conjunction with the Source Tape function, this is the fastest way to select material for cutting.
Also new is a larger display of audio tracks during editing, or a function for fast conversion of 16:9 HD or Ultra HD material into square or vertical format for social networks (Instagram, etc.). The DaVinci Neural Engine core automatically identifies faces and changes the shot composition according to the target format.
Searching for effects, interlaces or captions is also now faster thanks to the simultaneous display of multiple icons. To preview an effect in the Viewer window, simply hover your cursor over any item in the effects list...
You can also now import projects created with ATEM Mini Pro ISO and further edit them using the Sync Bin function with multiview display. Of course, you can use imported HD ISO footage or original Blackmagic RAW files from cameras to complete your project in Ultra HD resolution.
Edit section
Among the enhancements to the Edit video editing section are especially new features for creating and managing independent proxy media, for example for easy project portability or performance enhancement. Proxy files can be saved at resolutions up to 1/16 of the original resolution and in H.264, H.265, ProRes or DNxHR codecs. They can be created internally or externally using third-party tools.
The new Auto Align tool can be used to synchronize multi-camera sequences according to both time code and audio track content. In addition, time tracks can be converted into multi-camera and composite clips.
The new HSL and Luma Keyer Resolve FX 3D plug-ins allow direct color/luma keying of material in the Edit and Cut section timelines. Alpha channels of Resolve FX and Open FX plug-ins, integral alpha channel files and external files serving as masks are also supported. The Render in Place command is then used to calculate any portion of the timeline.
Before the material is inserted into the timeline, it can now be pre-edited - e.g., setting RAW parameters, adding LUT corrections, changing audio tracks, image size and frame rate, etc. Users can also import/export individual timelines or bins for wider collaboration possibilities within studios. Timeline and bin files can be easily shared, e.g. via email.
Working with half-shots has also been improved - DaVinci Neural Engine technology is able to reconstruct progressive images from half-shot material or remove 3:2 pulldown in real time.
Fusion section
Post-production Fusion section compositions can now be saved as templates for use in Edit or Cut sections, with which timeline markers can now also be shared. New animation curve modifiers find use when changing the length of sequences. And the ability to view/play audio tracks will make it easier to accurately time animations.
In addition, 27 GPU-accelerated Resolve FX effects have been implemented, including noise reduction or image focus functions taken from the Color section. Bookmarks at the tree structure view will simplify working with large projects; as well as the ability to vertically display the nodal structure. New toolbar customization options allow you to create customized tool templates for different purposes.
Other improvements
DaVinci Resolve 17 includes additional improvements in the areas of format and export support, consistent timeline browsing functionality across all sections of the program, better metadata support, new algorithms for resampling an image when zooming in/out, the ability to share Smart bins, GPU acceleration for other Resolve FX plug-ins, etc. Another major new feature is the implementation of revolutionary multi-user collaboration features in the free version of DaVinci Resolve!
Format support
Extended file format support includes decoding of QuickTime PNG, uncompressed RGB 8-bit and YUV 10-bit AVI or split Panasonic 8K SHV media. DaVinci Resolve 17 also supports metadata for individual frames from Blackmagic, ARRI, RED and Sony cameras, and also decodes and displays EXR metadata for each frame.

It can be used with DeckLink 4K Extreme cards and control consoles from other manufacturers, such as Tangent Devices Wave. For the most demanding post-production studio customers, we offer the complete DaVinci Resolve Advanced Control Surface system, including the control console, at a price of over £580,000, a fraction of the price for which similar systems have been offered in the past!
Since the release, the program offers a completely redesigned video playback kernel that is up to 10x faster compared to previous versions. In addition to massive CPU and GPU optimizations, better multithreading, faster UI rendering, support for Apple Metal technology, etc. have been implemented. Playback and timeline movement are smooth, and there's also H.264 playback acceleration for editing 4K videos even on less powerful configurations such as laptops
DaVinci Resolve 16: New Cut section
The leitmotif of the new Cut section is speed - it's designed for creators of news programs, TV commercials, etc. who demand maximum efficiency. It's an alternative to the Edit section with a simplified interface and efficient tools for quickly cutting material. The Cut section allows you to import, edit, trim, add interlacing effects and subtitles, automatically color match individual tracks, mix audio, etc. Whether the project destination is a TV screen or a YouTube platform, the Cut section contains everything you need for maximum editing efficiency! The traditional Edit section is still available and accessible at the click of a button. This allows you to quickly combine vastly different working styles within the same project
The Cut section takes inspiration from the past and brings classic video editing concepts into the fast-paced present, including Source Tape mode and the A/B trim tool. The Cut section is not about simplification, but optimization: it removes tools that users don't need for basic work and implements those that lead to faster work. Some established practices from the days of tape editing served as inspiration. Linear scrolling through tape footage is as cumbersome as it is clear - a quick forward or backward scan of the footage was enough to select the appropriate shot. Finding a suitable shot in the bins of modern video editing programs means a much more tedious browsing of hundreds of files. With the Source Tape feature, there is no need to "hunt" for files in bins; when activated, clips are sorted in the viewer as one long "tape" that can be quickly and easily browsed. This makes it not only quick to find the footage you need, but just as easy to add it to your timeline
The Cut section also eliminates the need to zoom in or out of the project view thanks to the dual timeline feature. The top timeline shows the entire project, while the bottom timeline shows the current cursor surroundings. Both timelines are fully functional and allow you to move and trim shots. For example, if the need arises to move the current clip to the end of the timeline, it can simply be dragged from the lower timeline and moved to the end of the upper...
DaVinci Resolve 16: DaVinci Neural Engine
Another new feature in version 16 is the DaVinci Neural Engine technology, which uses artificial intelligence methods for innovative color correction, face recognition, image magnification, and slow motion creation. DaVinci Neural Engine technology is available on all supported operating systems and uses GPU acceleration for high performance and image quality. DaVinci Neural Engine provides easy-to-use tools for performing complex, repetitive and time-consuming tasks. For example, it allows you to recognize faces in footage and then automatically sort them into bins
DaVinci Resolve 16 also brings a number of other user-requested new features, including new Adjustment Clips for easy application of color corrections and other effects to clips below, a function for quick export to YouTube and Vimeo platforms from any section of the program, and GPU acceleration for signal measurement functions
DaVinci Resolve 16
The Fairlight section has also been updated with a new Elastic Wave feature for changing the length of audio clips, for example when replacing dialogue tracks, as well as features for 3D audio, new Bus, a preview of automation changes, dialogue editing tools and other FairlightFX effects
DaVinci Resolve 16: New ResolveFX plug-ins
DaVinci Resolve Studio 16 greatly expands the capabilities of the existing ResolveFX plug-ins (Scanline, Beauty, Face Refinement, Blanking Fill, Warper, Dead Pixel Fixer, and Colorspace Transformation) and adds a number of new ones, such as those for applying shadows, removing objects from shots, simulating noise, film stock damage or chromatic aberration in optics, simulating video tape artifacts, etc. Users can also now edit keyframes in the Timeline Curve Editor in the Edit section or in the Keyframe Panel in the Color section
DaVinci Resolve 15: Fusion!
DaVinci Resolve 15 brings an all-new Fusion section for top-level visual effects and animation. The new Fusion section implements a 3D compositing environment with over 250 tools for compositing, vector painting, particle effects, keying, rotoscoping, animated titles, stabilization and motion tracking. A standalone version of Fusion will continue to be offered
In addition to implementing the Fusion tools, DaVinci Resolve 15 also offers support for the Apple Metal interface and the ability to use multiple GPUs for hardware acceleration of effects calculations implemented in the Fusion section. Creating effects or animations is preceded only by selecting the target video in the Edit panel and then clicking on the Fusion section header. Users are then provided with a nodal Fusion interface that is also capable of importing projects created in an external, standalone edition of the program
DaVinci Resolve 15: What's New in Audio Track Processing
DaVinci Resolve 15 also includes greatly improved audio processing features. The Fairlight section now offers a complete set of dialogue processing features, tools for changing the length of material including retune correction, track normalization, audio routing in 3D space, shared audio libraries, support for importing projects from older Fairlight products, and integrated plug-ins for all supported platforms, including a reverb plug-in and effects for noise removal, vocal part processing, and hiss reduction. With the new version of DaVinci Resolve 15, users no longer have to worry about using multiple platforms: the FairlightFX plug-ins are natively executable on macOS, Windows and Linux
DaVinci Resolve 15: Color Corrections
Color correction specialists will be pleased with the all-new LUT preset browser, shared nodes for automatic inheritance of their settings, significant speed optimizations for image stabilization, improved algorithms for noise reduction or the Super Scale HD function for image scaling up to 8K resolution. Fairlight Audio
Starting with version 14, DaVinci Resolve implements audio technology from the legendary Fairlight brand. Fairlight desks are used for post-production of the audio component of movies and TV shows and are renowned for their excellent audio quality and speed. With Fairlight's audio technologies, DaVinci Resolve users get a huge set of tools for recording, editing, mixing and mastering audio, including 3D audio formats 5.1, 7.1, Dolby and even 22.2. The cutting-edge audio engine is optimized for 24-bit/48kHz resolution and guarantees extremely low latency, even with a large number of tracks. With the optional Fairlight Audio Accelerator card, the system is capable of processing up to 1,000 tracks in real time, including equalizers, dynamic processors and other plug-ins for each track. It can also record up to 96 channels while simultaneously playing up to 150 audio tracks, in real time! No competing program offers such audio processing capabilities!
Fairlight's new audio core offers multi-track audio processing, including Main/Sub/Aux buses for mastering and exporting to multiple formats at once. Each channel of the virtual mixing console offers a six-band parametric equalizer, expander/noise gate, and real-time compressor/limiter. There are also features for changing track length without overdubbing or automation tools. Every parameter can be automated, including VST plug-ins
In addition to editing and mixing features, DaVinci Resolve also offers sophisticated multi-channel audio recording tools that are disproportionately superior to competing programs. Users can record dialogue tracks or a complete symphony orchestra while simultaneously previewing both video and audio tracks in real time. Listening functions can handle bus widths up to 24 channels and monitor through up to 16 different sets of listening monitors. This makes listening possible even in professional cinema theatres
DaVinci Resolve also supports the optional Fairlight Audio Accelerator card. This unlocks support for processing up to 1,000 tracks with zero latency and real-time processing of EQ, dynamics and up to 6 VST plug-ins for each channel. Even without the accelerator card, most modern configurations will be able to process over 60 channels in real-time. The program is also capable of working with Fairlight sound desks for post-production of the most demanding projects! The advanced audio bus architecture will further facilitate real-time processing of different language versions of shows and simultaneous export to different formats
Simultaneous network processing of projects
A rich variety of functions for video editing and color editing as well as post-production of audio recordings creates the need for a division of labor: several users working simultaneously on the same project. That's where the new real-time multi-user collaboration features come in - they support simultaneous video editing, color correction and audio processing of a project. Users in the position of editing assistants can prepare the material while the editor is already editing, the colorist is working on color corrections, and the sound master is mixing dialogue tracks and musical accompaniment. All in one project, in real time
New bin locking, clip locking and timeline features allow individual users to safely work on specific parts of a project without overwriting each other's edits. There is also an integrated client for communication between DaVinci Resolve users without the need for an external internet connection. A secure communication application is especially important for workplaces that are not - to protect against unauthorized access to data - connected to the Internet. A new timeline comparison tool makes it easy to find and consolidate differences in edits between different versions of projects. In addition, DaVinci Resolve software does not require the purchase of additional servers or specialized content management systems
New features for simultaneous multi-user collaboration eliminate the need to import, export or convert projects before editing begins. Users also no longer have to wait until editing is completely finished and can begin editing video color or audio tracks immediately. Switching between the editing, color editing and audio post-production interfaces is accomplished with a single click! The ability to process projects in parallel speeds up routine tasks and increases users' creativity
Work in real time
Pure software solutions are often limited by the power of a single computer or a single graphics card. DaVinci Resolve Studio overcomes these limitations with the ability to use additional GPU accelerators or even multiple additional computers for maximum performance. So the ability to work in real time on even the most complex projects is always within your reach! Apply dozens of primary and secondary corrections, multi-point motion trackers, blur effects and more. Projects will still play back in real time!
Creative features
DaVinci Resolve Studio combines powerful tools with real-time work, so there's no limit to your creativity! DaVinci Resolve offers many proven tools, including classic primary and secondary corrections, 3D motion tracking, image stabilization, tonal curves, color channel mixing, etc. Work in a dynamic timeline, manage metadata, export 3D LUT tables, use Copy/Paste to transfer correction settings, create presets, etc
Top quality
DaVinci product algorithms have been awarded an Emmy™, the TV equivalent of the Oscars! All image processing is performed at a maximum 32-bit floating point resolution. And by working in the YRGB color space, you can work independently with the luminance component without altering the primary color settings. Thanks to the algorithms used, the colours and tonality of the image are always as natural as if you were working with film material optically. So no unnatural colours or burnt-out parts of the image

DaVinci Resolve Micro and Mini Panel
The DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel are high-quality, professional-grade consoles equipped with a trio of high-resolution trackballs, precision rotary controls, backlit buttons and more. The hardware consoles are an absolute must for color correction in particular, as colorists need to "hold the image in their hands" while adjusting several parameters at once - whether they're making minor corrections or complex color changes
During the development of these new counters, the designers had to keep in mind all the possibilities of their use as well as the maximum quality of workmanship. The desks are designed for three basic use models: professional-level color video editing, alternate use for editing and subsequent color correction, and finally for editing and color video editing simultaneously. The second part of the design equation was quality: no user wants to work with a "cheap" counter because they will be using it for several hours a day. So the goal was to create extremely high quality products that were compact enough to suit modern ways of working. Small control desks are easily portable and are therefore ideal for independent operators who often work in different studios. Quality workmanship and high durability were therefore the most important requirements during the development of these new consoles for DaVinci Resolve
The miniature DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel is only slightly larger than a computer keyboard and is powered by a USB bus. It can be conveniently operated alongside a workstation keyboard and the user can easily alternate between the panel and keyboard while working, allowing simultaneous video editing and color correction. The larger DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel adds extra LCD displays to access most DaVinci Resolve features. This makes it ideal for workstations that not only perform color correction and editing, but also professional color editing of footage. Its small size allows it to be easily transported within studios, for example, but at the same time it offers enough features to allow colorists to use it for processing even very demanding projects
The DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel and DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel provide a fluid, ergonomic connection to DaVinci Resolve and allow multiple parameters to be set at once for complex, creative video color editing with incomparably greater convenience than a standard keyboard and mouse. A number of clients and videographers have also complained about the difficulty of converting digital film camera data into "film form" -- simplifying access to color correction features increases users' creative options. During the design of the new consoles, easier access to the primary color correction functions therefore became a top priority
Both desks feature a series of 12 rotary dials that provide access to the most important primary color corrector parameters for easy experimentation with material color. The primary controllers allow you to adjust Lift, Gamma or Gain parameters for the brightness component of the signal, contrast, saturation or color tone of the image, level of detail in the mid-brightness band, etc. In addition, the consoles are equipped with additional control buttons on the right side to access frequently used (e.g. transport) functions. This allows users to work faster without having to spend time scrolling through DaVinci Resolve menus
All hardware counters for DaVinci Resolve have a consistent layout of controls, making it easy to use all new counters as well as the classic DaVinci Resolve Advanced Panel model. Many of the controls are in the same place, the trackballs are large and have a similar response: long-time DaVinci Resolve users will therefore easily get used to the new models. The panels have a sleek and durable, die-turned aluminum body and professional, high-resolution trackballs. The trackballs can be used for RGB corrections, or Lift, Gamma and Gain functions, including master level adjustments via an external rotary ring. Rotary knobs are proprietary, precision elements with turned knobs for precise adjustment of assigned parameters. Additionally, they can be used to reset values by pressing them. Thanks to the backlighting of the buttons, the panels can be used even in the gloom of studios. The larger DaVinci Resolve Mini Panel model adds two additional high-resolution displays - for displaying and setting parameters of the currently selected instrument - and additional buttons for setting advanced DaVinci Resolve features
DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard
The DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard has been designed for maximum editing efficiency with the ability to quickly browse and search for material using the integrated search wheel, without the need to use a mouse. The keyboard's all-metal body ensures high operational reliability even with many hours of daily use, while the profiled keys make it easy to navigate. High-quality switches, of the same type as in the top eSport keyboards, also guarantee maximum reliability. Likewise, the search wheel has been reamed from a metal alloy to provide the most reliable tool for trimming and scrolling through material. In addition, the keys, switches and armrest are available as spare parts and the keyboard can therefore be repaired or periodically refurbished in the event of high levels of wear
Unlike the conventional way of working combining keyboard and mouse, DaVinci Resolve Editor Keyboard can be used ambidextrously: the right hand sets the time position in the clip, while the left hand can be used to simultaneously create start and end points and perform editing. Users can thus navigate through media, set start and end points, move segments on the timeline, and repeat these actions quickly and easily. It is a very fast way of working that uses two-handed coordination
The metal search wheel is positioned completely on the right and has a rubber surface for a very comfortable and reliable grip. Thanks to high quality ball bearings and an electronically controlled brake, its movement is natural in both Shuttle and Jog modes. Creating t
