LAOWA Aurogon Lenses FF 10-50x Supermicro APO Canon RF
However, photos taken with a normal microscope and a camera adapter have various disadvantages. Their image quality is relatively poor, especially in the corners, the full format is hardly illuminated and the working distance is extremely short. The LAOWA Aurogon was therefore developed specifically for microscope photography with full-format cameras. Thanks to its special design and apochromatic correction, it offers extremely high image quality right into the corners for a microscope, as well as a large recording distance.
It consists of four different tube lenses that are connected directly to the camera and a front lens, which is each mounted on the tube. The tubes offer magnifications of 10X, 20X, 35X and 50X. The length of the tubes varies between 112 mm and 253 mm and the weight between 370 and 465g. The front lens has a length of 167 mm with a diameter of 50 mm and a weight of 447g.
In contrast to conventional lenses, the “numerical aperture” (NA), which describes the “receiving cone of an objective,” is often used in microscope optics. In microscope optics, NA reflects the resolving power of an objective rather than anything about its light-gathering ability. The larger the numerical aperture, the better an optic can make finer details visible. The new Supermicro APO lens from LAOWA has NA values (similar to the aperture value of a normal lens) between 0.15 and 0.5, which can be adjusted in 8 steps on the front lens.
The minimum object distance is a full 20 mm from the front lens, regardless of which magnification tube is connected. Thanks to this relatively large distance, external light sources can be used quite easily.
The focal length of the combined front lens and extension tube is 18.8mm for the 10x tube, decreasing to 5.56mm when the 50x tube is used.
Special lens holder rings are available as accessories for attaching to a macro slide or tripod.
All settings are done manually.
