SIGMA 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art (for Sony EF) is the world's first full-frame zoom with constant aperture F1.8 and provides sharpness and clarity comparable to prime lenses.
New product
Sigma, already a pioneer of unique large aperture zoom lenses, such as the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art and Sigma 24-35mm F2 DG HSM Art, now comes with another fast and versatile tool in the Art series. In addition to outstanding brightness, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art offers sharpness and clarity throughout the zoom range that is comparable to prime lenses. It also has fast and precise AF, making it easy to use. This lens makes new history for zoom lenses and their creative possibilities. This is a lens that will inspire full-frame filmmakers and provide unparalleled versatility to stills photographers.
Sigma has successfully developed the world's first full-frame zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F1.8. The Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art has an internal zoom mechanism, a minimum focus distance of 30cm throughout the entire zoom range, and a filter size of 82mm. Even with its advanced features, the lens weighs less than 1kg, making it easy to carry around and a versatile option whether for handheld shooting or when using a gimbal.
Previously, aperture F1.8 on full frame was reserved for fixed lenses, but now users with a full-frame camera can take handheld shots in low light while enjoying the flexibility of a zoom lens. This unique lens has been created using Sigma's long experience with advanced optical design and the advanced production capabilities at Sigma's one factory in Aizu, Japan.
An internal zoom and focus mechanism means that the length of the lens does not change when zooming or focusing. This makes it easy to use handheld and stable when mounted on a tripod or gimbal. Additionally, this construction makes the lens extra resistant to dust and water.
The minimum focus distance is constant at 30cm throughout the entire zoom range, and the lens has a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4 at the telephoto end, providing excellent close-up possibilities. The lens can also be used close to the subject without compromising sharpness when using zoom.
Despite being a bright zoom lens, the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art is solidly constructed to protect the sophisticated optical design while keeping the weight under 1kg. Additionally, it has a practical filter size of 82mm.
All optical aberrations are corrected throughout the zoom range, making the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art compete with fixed lenses in terms of sharpness, clarity, and resolution. The lens delivers clear images, even in backlit environments, with focus breathing kept to a very low level, providing expressive possibilities for filmmakers and photographers.
Through the efficient placement of 5 SLD elements and 3 aspherical elements, aberrations are thoroughly corrected. The lens delivers clear images with good color reproduction, from sharp details to large soft bokehs, while keeping axial chromatic aberration low.
Flare and ghosting are largely eliminated using advanced simulation technology, ensuring rich colors and high contrast in all situations. The lens features Sigma's Nano Porous surface treatment and Super Multi-Layer surface treatment to minimize flare and ghosting.
The Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art features fast and adaptable AF, solid weather sealing, de-click aperture ring, smooth manual focus, and AFL buttons for versatility in any situation.
