The Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D is a wide-angle lens designed for full-frame SLR cameras with the Nikon F bayonet. The glass features a 114° angle of view, near-zero distortion and an exceptional minimum focusing distance of just 14.5cm. The lens features a 5-blade aperture that produces exceptional 10-point stars. Its low weight, compact size, ultra-wide imaging perspective and ability to conveniently mount 67mm diameter circular filters make it an ideal glass for travelers, landscape photographers, astrography enthusiasts and architectural photography enthusiasts.
The Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D lens was developed for full-frame DSLRs with Nikon F mount. It offers an incredible 114° angle of view. This allows you to capture huge expanses of landscapes or buildings in your photographs. With this exceptional lens you can capture breathtaking cityscapes, starry skies, beautiful mountain vistas and hundreds of natural wonders. With the ultra-wide lens from Venus Optics Laowa, you’ll capture incredibly rich and complex compositions in a single image that would be difficult to achieve with traditional glass.
The innovative lens from Venus Optics Laowa, however, is not just about vast open spaces, picturesque landscapes, street lights and rows of buildings that form elaborate city grids. The lens is based on a completely new optical system that allows focusing from a minimum distance of 14.5 cm. This means that the lens will also be suitable for taking pictures of small objects in an unusual and original perspective, with a shallow depth of field that will effectively blur the background. Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D for Nikon F is not only an ultra-wide angle, but also “Mini Macro” style photography!
The Venus Optics Laowa 14 mm Zero-D lens is constructed on the basis of 13 optical elements, which are arranged in 8 groups. There are, among others, two aspherical lenses and two lenses with reduced dispersion coefficient. Thanks to this, in addition to zero distortion, the glass also offers outstanding sharpness and wonderfully minimizes chromatic aberration. All this means that your photographs require much less post-production work. Photos come out phenomenal, so you may not need any graphics software at all! The image generated by the lens is full of detail, color and contrast.
The use of a state-of-the-art microprocessor means that you no longer have to set the focal length with a ring. You can do it from the dial, button or touch screen of your camera. The lens is equipped with an aperture clutch. This means that the aperture is fully open when setting the frame. Only when the trigger is pressed does it close to the desired value for the duration of the photograph. Such a solution is much more convenient than manual aperture modification using a ring. The Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D lens also allows you to record full EXIF data. The metadata will help you analyze the images you’ve taken and become an even better creator with each new shoot or photo outing!
Astrophotographers are well aware of the importance of precise lens alignment when photographing a sky full of stars. It is with such artists in mind, among others, that the Laowa company introduced an innovative focusing distance scale calibration system to the Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D. An additional locking ring located on the lens allows you to determine the actual infinity point for the scene you are photographing and then conveniently mark it on the lens barrel. This will allow you to better adapt the glass to your camera, work with it more efficiently, and the quality of your photos will reach an even higher level!
Night photography allows you to experiment endlessly with long exposure times, especially when shooting in neon and lantern lit cities. The Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D lens mounted on a Nikon F bayonet will allow you to add “something extra” to your frames. By using the 5-blade aperture, you can get an amazing effect of beautifully outlined 10-pointed “stars”. They will appear in place of street lamps, car headlights, Christmas tree lights, and other light sources that the lens captures!
Who says ultra-wide angle is a reason to give up on circular filters! After all, they are the ones that further expand the capabilities of the lens and allow you to better protect it. In the case of the Venus Optics Laowa 14 mm Zero-D you will easily use standard 52 mm circular filters. Their installation will be fast and convenient. This way you can install your favorite polarizing, ND or UV filters on the lens. This ergonomic design will allow you to forget about rectangular filter adapters and still enjoy the extraordinary capabilities of the Venus Optics Laowa glass!
A lens that is meant to help you create even more beautiful photos of landscapes, skies or architecture must be ready to travel thousands of miles with you. The designers at Venus Optics Laowa have ensured that the durability is of the highest standard. All optical elements are enclosed in a robust metal housing. The Venus Optics Laowa 14mm Zero-D design does not limit your mobility at the same time. The glass is extremely light and handy, which certainly distinguishes this model from its competitors. It weighs just 320 grams, so your back may not feel its presence in your backpack at all!
