The Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift lens is an ultra-wide full-frame lens offering perspective correction. It delivers unparalleled image sharpness, and thanks to Zero-D technology, distortion is almost completely avoided. It is the ideal choice for photographers who specialise in architectural and interior shots. You’ll no longer need to use editing software to eliminate distortion and create straight lines in photographs featuring buildings as the main protagonists. The lens features a swivel hood to prevent unwanted flare. When the 14-blade aperture is closed, beautifully outlined stars are produced. It is compatible with cameras equipped with the Canon RF bayonet.
The maximum shift value when using the Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift to Canon RF lens is ±11mm for full frame cameras and ±8mm for medium format cameras. The “Shift” option will allow you to correct perspective that is disturbed by being far away from your subject. This will eliminate distortion and achieve straight lines in your images.
The image generated by the lens is full of detail, colour and contrast. This is all thanks to 16 optical elements arranged in 11 groups. The design also includes 3 ED and 2 aspherical glass elements. These provide impressive control of chromatic aberration and ensure consistently sharp images from centre to edge.
The maximum angle of view of the Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift lens for Canon RF is 94.4°. For panoramic shots, that’s up to 117°! The wide perspective will give you great flexibility when shooting architecture and interiors with limited space. The lens also lets you get very close to your subjects. The minimum focus distance is just 25cm. It will be a great choice when creating multi-plane frames with a unique perspective.
The Venus Optics Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift to Canon RF is another member of the “Zero-D” family. The lenses in this line are ideal for architectural photography. Thanks to the “Zero-D”, horizontal and vertical lines will remain constant in their planes. This geometry retention is especially appreciated by photographers of architecture, interiors and landscapes. The time required for image processing will be significantly reduced with this lens!
The 360° rotatable hood protects the front of the lens while preventing unwanted flare and blurring. The 360° rotatable lens hood protects the front of the lens from unwanted flare and blur, making it ideal for situations where you need to shoot in strong light. The lens hood can be adjusted so that it does not obstruct your view when you are using the maximum shift of the optical axis.
The use of a 14-blade aperture allows you to achieve smooth and circular bokeh. The characteristic blur will produce surprising effects in architectural photography. When the aperture is closed you can enjoy the amazing effect of 14-point “stars”. They appear in the photo in place of the sun or other light sources such as street lamps, car headlights or Christmas tree lights.
