The Byomic Preparation Cutlery in Case is indispensable when you want to prepare your own slides. With this handy tool you will have even more fun with your microscope observations. By looking for interesting subjects yourself and by using this Byomic Cutlery you can make your own specimens.

      Preparation needle

The preparation needle is 11,5 cm and can be used to move objects and move them to the correct position on the slide.

      Microscopic tweezers with blunt tips

With the microscopic tweezers off 12 cm the objects and slides can be picked up and moved. In this way the objects remain intact and there are no (finger) stains on the slides and/or cover glasses.

      Microscope scissors

The microscope scissors are used to adjust the size of objects so that they can be used as a sample or can be further treated with the scalpel. The total length of both microscopic scissors is 13,5 cm and the blades are 3,5 cm long.

      Scalpel holder with scalpel blade

With the Scalpel holder with scalpel blades, unusable parts of the specimens can be cut away very accurately. In this way, the most beautiful specimens can be created. Both scalpel holders including blade have a length of 14,5 cm and are equipped with a handy grip.

      Pouch with press stud

In this pouch all tools can be stored and transported when not in use. It is divided into five compartments so that everything can be stored in an orderly fashion.
At the back the microscope scissors can be placed. In the middle compartments the tweezers can be placed and on the front side the tweezers and on the sides the scalpel holders can be placed.

The scalpel blades are razor-sharp, which is why we recommend that children only use them under adult supervision.

      How are slides prepared?

      1. Pick up a microscope slide using tweezers and place a drop of water in the middle.
      2. After this the object can be placed in the drop with tweezers.
      3. Now take a cover glass with the tweezers and carefully place it on the object.
This can be done by placing the cover slip against the preparation needle and slowly lower the preparation needle.
      4. If there is not enough water under the cover slip, drip a little more water on the side of the cover slip.
This is then automatically 'sucked' under the cover slip.
      5. Now the specimen is ready to be viewed with the microscope.
