New product
The Yongnuo YN565EX III is the third installment of one of the most popular flashes in the Yongnuo brand’s range, designed to work with Canon cameras. Its high power, numerous features and remote control capability make it an essential tool in every photographer’s bag.
The YN565EX III reporter flash for Canon cameras features a high flash guide number of GN 58. The high flash power combined with a wide control range (from 1/1 to 1/128, in 1/3 EV steps) allows you to precisely select the correct value for the scene.
The flash offers three modes of operation: manual, strobe and E-TTL automatic, allowing the user to easily achieve the desired effect.
Version III of the Yongnuo YN565EX reporter flash can be triggered in a number of ways.
This is a function that allows you to influence the flash power of a flash unit operating in E-TTL automatic mode. When compensation is set, all flashes will be performed with power correction to help achieve the photographer’s intended effect. For example, setting the FEC to -1 EV will reduce the power of the flashes so that the subject being illuminated is underexposed by 1 exposure value.
The flash power bracketing function is a useful tool, especially in situations where the lighting in the scene changes dynamically or where the user is unsure how much power to illuminate the frame. The bracketing setting causes three consecutive flashes to be taken at different power (e.g. underexposed photo, correctly exposed photo, overexposed photo). This function increases the likelihood of taking a correctly exposed photo in difficult lighting conditions.
The mode allows you to creatively use the flash effect at the beginning or end of the exposure. The YN565EX III reporter flash offers both first-curtain (beginning of exposure) and second-curtain (end of exposure) flash synchronisation, allowing you to significantly change the character of the images you receive. Triggering the flash to the second curtain allows you to capture the effect of movement behind the subject, such as streaks behind a moving car. In the case of a first-curtain flash, the blur registered thanks to the reflected light is in front of the moving subject in the frame.
The solutions implemented in the Yongnuo YN565EX III reporter flash allow you to freely shape the character of the emitted light in a fraction of a second. The movable torch with automatic (and manual) zoom, diffuser and reflector allow you to creatively select the lighting for the selected scene.
The systems used in the flash have reduced the time between two discharges (at full power and basic power) to just 2 seconds, so the unit provides almost continuous standby.
The primary power source for the Yongnuo YN565EX III flash is four AA-type cells (batteries or rechargeable batteries). Compatibility with universal cells, commonly available in shops around the world, makes the flash can be used virtually anywhere. In addition, to optimise lamp operation, it is equipped with an energy-saving function that automatically switches off the lamp in the event of prolonged inactivity.
To further increase the performance of the unit, an external battery tray or power bank such as the YN5200 can be connected. The additional external power source allows you to shorten the time between flashes and extend the runtime without having to change batteries.
A front-facing auto-focus assist LED makes it easy to capture perfectly sharp images in adverse lighting conditions.
An easy-to-read backlit LCD display and intuitive and feature-rich menus make it easy to navigate the flash functions, while large and comfortable buttons ensure comfortable operation even when wearing gloves. It is also possible to turn on and off beeps to indicate when the flash is charged and ready to flash again. For use with newer Canon cameras, control of the flash parameters is available from the camera menu.
The components of the YN565EX III flash unit are made from high quality materials for long life. An advanced system protects the components from overheating. If the device detects an elevated temperature, the protection mechanism will inform the user and then limit the available functions, thus protecting the flash from damage.
A mini-USB port for software updates ensures that the flash is compatible with new camera models.
