Caruba UV + CPL + Variable ND2-400 Kit 46mm With the Caruba UV + CPL + Variable ND2-400 Kit you have a complete set with three different filters. In the kit you will find a UV filter, a circular polarization filter and a variable ND filter that can be set from two to 400, giving you access to one to nearly nine stops. All three filters have a twelve-layer coating and the inner ring of the filters is finished in matte black to prevent glare and reflections.
Caruba UV filter
A UV filter is one of the most used filters that you can simply leave on your lens. A UV filter optimally protects the front lens against scratches, greasy fingers and dust. The filter optimizes the contrast, reduces unwanted stray light and counteracts the blue haze that can occur. The use of a UV filter is therefore particularly recommended when photographing in an environment with a very clear sky. Because it is a neutral filter you can experiment with it. Try sticking a black cardboard shape on the filter to influence the circular appearance of the bokeh!
Caruba Polarizing filter
A polarization filter is often used in landscape and architectural photography. The overall saturation of the image is slightly enhanced, but in particular the blues of a sky appear darker. In addition, you can influence the visibility of reflections from glass or water by turning the filter. The effect of the filter is clearly visible when you look through the viewfinder and turn the filter. For example, you determine to what extent the reflection of a surface can be seen in the end result. For the best result in removing reflections, you get if you shoot at an angle of 45 degrees
Caruba variable gray filter
A gray filter is also called an ND filter. The letters ND stand for "Neutral Density" ..., it is a neutral gray filter. This filter does not affect the colors in your photos, but the amount of light that enters through the lens. This gives you the freedom to experiment with extra-long shutter speeds. Think of photographing running water or making walking people "disappear" in a street scene. A gray filter certainly comes in handy if you want to photograph with a large aperture or shoot video images in a situation with a lot of light. A good neutral gray filter is indispensable for videographers! The variable gray filter in this kit from Caruba is good for one to almost nine stops less light.
