Blackmagic Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI 8K HDR
Blackmagic Design's Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR enables sophisticated 8K monitoring on DisplayPort computer screens and high-quality monitors such as the new Pro Display XDR. In contrast to conventional converters, the Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR can use third-party measuring devices for screen calibration. In this way, connected monitors can be coordinated with one another with great color accuracy. There are two onscreen scopes with the optional settings for waveform, parade, vector scope and histogram.
The Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR is ideal for film studios and broadcasting services that need professional yet affordable and true-to-color monitoring. Users are offered an elegant design with a color LCD for monitoring and controlling the settings. The front panel contains controls and a color screen that displays incoming video, audiometers and video standards. On the back there are Quad Link 12G-SDI connections for HD, Ultra-HD and 8K formats. There are also two DisplayPort connections for the use of regular computer screens and USB-C-like DisplayPort screens such as the new Pro Display XDR. The integrated scaler ensures that incoming video standards are scaled to the native resolution of the connected DisplayPort screen. Users can even connect 2SI and square division inputs.
The Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR is fully geared towards the latest HDR workflows. To monitor in HDR SDI, you only need to connect an HDMI-compatible DisplayPort screen. PQ and hybrid log gamma (HLG) formats that support static metadata are processed in the Video Playload Identifier (VPID) in accordance with SMPTE standards SST2108-1, ST2084 and ST425. The Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR can also process ST425. To support the SDR, HLG or PQ transmission parameters, this standard defines two additional bits in the VPID. The ST2108-1 standard also defines how HDR-compatible, static or dynamic metadata is transmitted via SDI. ST2082-10 for 12G-SDI sources and ST425 for 3G-SDI sources are also supported. Support is also available for the Rec.2020 and Rec.709 color spaces, as well as one hundred percent for the DCI-P3 format.
In order to facilitate compliance with technical broadcast guidelines for important projects in the high-end area, two completely independent onscreen scopes are integrated. The scopes are displayed as an overlay on the monitor. Position, size and opacity are adjustable. Users can choose between different scopes, including waveform displays for the luminance levels of the incoming video signal. The vectorscope display shows the color saturation at 100 percent of the SDI reference levels. RGB and YUV parade displays are perfect for color correction and for checking and correcting illegal color levels. The histogram display shows the distribution of black and white tones as well as clipped levels in the depths and highlights.
The Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR has the same high quality 33-point 3D LUTs used in the film industry. A connected monitor can even be calibrated using a third-party USB colorimeter. The Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR analyzes the monitor and generates a 3D LUT, which is used to correct the color differences. You can load two independent 3D LUTs via the front panel and select one from there.
