Advanced AF is programmed using deep-learning artificial intelligence, while in-body image stabilisation works in concert with a lens’s own IS to provide up to 8 stops* of protection against camera shake.
A next-generation 45 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor captures incredible clarity, low noise and wide dynamic range: the perfect partner for our advanced RF lenses. For sensational clarity and detail whatever you’re shooting – even in bad light up to ISO 51,200. Use Dual Pixel RAW to adjust lighting on your subject’s faces, or to apply clarity to only the background when shooting landscapes.
Ground-breaking intelligent AF
The camera’s autofocus is programmed using a deep-learning AI – first developed for our ground-breaking EOS-1D X Mark III. This enables the EOS R5 to recognise and track a subject’s face and eyes with new levels of accuracy and precision, even when viewed from the side. This tracking ability is also available when photographing dogs, cats and birds, keeping them in sharp focus as they move – a first for EOS cameras.

No other camera comes close to the EOS R5. Capture 45 megapixel, full-frame images at a staggering 20fps in complete silence and with full autofocus tracking. And, for situations that need it, a mechanical shutter is also available, allowing class-leading shooting speeds up to 12fps.
Setting new standards
As the pioneers of DSLR video, and the developers of the acclaimed Cinema EOS range of cameras and lenses, we were well-placed to give the EOS R5 some formidable filmmaking capabilities. Capture superb 12-bit RAW video internally at 8K, or record 4K (4:2:2 10-bit) at frame rates up to 120p for exceptional slow-motion effects. All this using the full-width of the camera’s full-frame sensor for a truly cinematic look. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Face/Eye Detection keeps things looking sharp and allows impressive pull-focus transitions in all video modes.
